How to travel around Japan

Japan is an island country in East Asia, and has a history of over 2,000 years.
Japan had learned the cultures from China in ancient times and from Western countries in the modern times.

In the isolated environment geographically, Japan has formed its original culture based on both Eastern and Western widsoms, and has had unique customs, common sense, lifestyle, social morality.

Japan consists of four main islands and many other smaller islands.

The largest island is Honshu and it includes Tokyo, the capital of Japan, Osaka, Kyoto, Nagoya, Yokohama, etc.

Other islands are Hokkaido, Kyushu and Shikoku, and these are connected with Honshu by undersea tunnel or bridge.

The width of the islands is narrow but the length from north to south is over 2,000 km.

In addition, small islands are dotted on an arc‐shaped line to the south of Kyushu.
The main island is Okinawa.

The main area of Japan belongs to the temperate zone.
But, Hokkaido belongs to the subarctic zone, and Okinawa islands belong to subtropics.
